What is Lead?

What are its properties?

Where is lead commonly found in the environment ?

Especially in soils close to:

  2. Older houses

  3. Old orchards

  4. Mining areas

  7. Incinerators

  8. Landfills

  9. Hazardous waste sites

Best practices

In working with lead in any form, at a minimum, you should wear gloves, either latex or leather, and safety goggles.

Some tasks may require disposable coveralls, a half-face respirator with a HEPA filter and possibly steel-toed shoes. In all cases, wash hands immediately after working with lead.
